After serious involvement in Zionist youth movements, Chana Sterne came to live in Israel in 1967 from Edinburgh, Scotland. She lived in Jerusalem until 2003, working in the Jerusalem Foundation, Israel Bonds, The Jerusalem Post and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. She became very active in the political party Shinui in the '80s, and was a member of its Central Council for many years. Now a free-lance translator from Hebrew to English, she lives in Tel Aviv.
